Ethiopia is the hometown of coffee beans.The Ethiopians figured out the delights coffee can bring and guarded it carefully until these plants have been smuggled out to the Dutch. It is in Arabia, in Sufi monasteries of Yemen that the earliest credible evidence of coffee drinking appears. This is where roasting coffee beans began. With the introduction of the roasting equipment in the 1800s, coffee has been enjoyed a lot of people. Roasting coffee beans are also done at home; they grind the beans and brew the freshest coffee.

There are two approaches to roast coffee beans at home. But these can be done with the proper equipment and types of appliances. One way of roasting coffee beans at home is the use of a baking sheet inside an oven. The downside of this type of roasting is that it lacks uniformity. Hot air roasters or drum machines are the only appliances that can ensure a consistent roast coffee beans according to the desired strength.

There are specific things that must be done to successfully roast coffee beans. One must acquire certified organic green coffee beans. The second thing is a coffee machine to achieve an even roast.

The changes in the scent and in the beans are very important for you to observe when roasting.The aroma changes during the roasting process, the beans will change colors until they began to swell and pop. If you are doing a light roast, the color will turn to light brown similar to cinnamon. Subsequent to the nine-minute point, the beans will begin to change color rapidly as the roasting process accelerate. As soon as the beans pop again at the 15th minute mark, it's already called the French roast. To achieve an espresso roast, wait a few more minutes. Then, one can enjoy the tenderness, the waking feeling and the powerful force coffee can bring.
